Police fire water cannons at protesting medical students

UPDATE (04.50 P.M.):

Police used water cannons in order to disperse the protesting medical students near the Viharamahadevi Park in Colombo 07, a short while ago, Ada Derana reporter said.


One lane of the Srimath Anagarika Dharmapala Mawatha in Colombo 07 has been temporarily closed for vehicular movement due to a protest march by medical students, police said.

The protest march was organised by the Medical Faculty Students’ Action Committee against the establishment of private medical colleges in the country and the decision to establish a Faculty of Medicine at the National School of Business Management (NSBM).
