Health trade unions launch token strike in S’gamuwa Province hospitals

The Health Trade Union Alliance is engaged in a token strike at government hospitals across the Sabaragamuwa Province today (14).

Co-Convener of the Health Trade Union Alliance, Ravi Kumudesh, said that they are engaged in trade union action by withdrawing from duties for four hours from 8.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon today.

The Health Trade Union Alliance has resorted to this strike action at the provincial level since May 09, due to the lack of a positive responses from authorities to their demands.

He warned that if solutions are not provided to their grievances, they will engage in an indefinite strike across the island after May 21.
