The Avissawella Magistrate’s Court has ordered for the driver of the private bus that was driven along the railway track in the Puwakpitiya area, to be remanded in custody until June 14.
The bus driver, who was arrested in the Embilipitiya area yesterday (02), was produced before the court today (03).
Police have filed several charges against the driver including attempted murder, driving while his driving license has been suspended, driving under the influence of intoxicating drugs and causing damage to government property.
Meanwhile, the bus in question has also been taken into police custody.
A video of a private passenger bus being driven along the railway tracks parallel to a congested main road had sparked controversy across social media on Sunday (02).
