SOC on education approves ‘Sri Lanka National Commission for UNESCO’ Bill

The “Sri Lanka National Commission for UNESCO” Bill, which was presented to the Parliament and submitted to the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Education, has been received the approval of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Education.
This approval was given when the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Education met in Parliament recently (06) under the chairmanship of Member of Parliament Dr. V. Radhakrishnan, the Parliamentary Communications Department said in a statement.
This bill has been presented to make arrangements for the establishment of a National Commission for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and related activities. The committee met and discussed this bill and the amendments to be made on several occasions before, it added.
Members of Parliament Rohini Kumari Wijeratne, Manjula Dissanayake and Prof. Charita Herath participated in this meeting, the statement mentioned.
Officials from the Ministry of Education, the Attorney General’s Department, the Legal Draftsman’s Department and the Secretary General of the Sri Lanka National Commission for UNESCO were also present in the meeting, according to the Parliamentary Communications Department.
