Person arrested for bribery attempt inside police station

An individual has been apprehended last night (June 13) for allegedly attempting to bribe police officers at the Nagollagama Police Station to secure the release of two arrested suspects.

The individual had offered a bribe of Rs. 50,000 to secure the release of two suspects detained for possessing drugs, according to police.

The person arrested for the bribery attempt is a resident of Hiriyala, Ambagaswewa. The two suspects, aged 20 and 28, are from the same locality, the police dded 

Police said that all three suspects are scheduled to be produced before the Mahawa Magistrate’s Court today (14).
