Over 650 overseas players register for LPL 2026 - SLC

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) says that more than 650 overseas players have registered for the sixth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2026, and that 310 of those players are to be shortlisted for the Draft to be held on June 01.

It said that players from all ICC Full Member nations, as well as several Associate Member countries, are among those registered for the tournament.

SLC said the highest number of registrations from Full Member nations came from Pakistan, South Africa, the West Indies, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, New Zealand, Australia, and England.

Among the registrations are 102 players from Pakistan, 75 from the West Indies, 66 from South Africa, 48 from Bangladesh, 41 from New Zealand, 24 from Australia, 15 from England, and 12 from India.

Among the Associate Member nations, the highest number of registrations were received from the USA and the UAE. In total, players from 21 cricketing nations have registered for the draft.

However, following the screening process, only 310 players from the total registrations will be shortlisted and included in the Lanka Premier League 2026 Player Draft, the statement said.

The player draft will take place on June 01, 2026.

The Lanka Premier League 2026, Sri Lanka’s premier domestic cricket tournament with an international flavor, is scheduled to be played from 17 July to 8 August 2026.
