A total of 145,745 tourists arrived in the country in the month of May, data from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) shows.
This is despite the ongoing Middle Eastern conflict which has impacted the travel and tourism industry.
According to data released by the SLTDA, a total of 60,342 tourists have arrived from India which accounts to 41.0%. Furthermore, 9,248 persons from the United Kingdom, 9,156 from China, 6,734 from Germany and 6,414 Chinese nationals have also visited Sri Lanka in the month of May.
In May 2025, a total of 132,919 tourists visited Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, the number of tourists who arrived in Sri Lanka in 2026 has increased to 1,022,022 with the release of the latest figures for May.
Among them, 250,260 individuals are from India, 98,093 from the UK and 76,073 from Russia, the SLTDA noted.
