3,500 police officers to be deployed for Poson Festival in Anuradhapura

The Anuradhapura District Poson Committee met today (02) at the auditorium of the Anuradhapura District Secretariat under the leadership of Acting Atamasthanadhipathi Ven. Ethalawatunuwewe Ñāṇathilaka Thero.

 

The meeting was attended by the Anuradhapura District Secretary, security forces personnel, and other government officials.

 

Discussions focused on arrangements for the upcoming Poson festival season, with particular attention to security measures in the sacred city of Anuradhapura. Authorities said that nearly 3,500 police officers are expected to be deployed to maintain public safety during the religious events.

 

Officials also stated that no “dansal” will be permitted to operate without prior approval.

 

Anuradhapura District Secretary Ranjith Wimalasooriya, addressing the gathering, urged devotees visiting the sacred city to act responsibly and avoid causing environmental damage, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a clean and eco-friendly environment during the festival period.
