A 20-year-old youth has been killed in a tractor-related accident in Kurusuttikulam within the Kanakarayankulam Police Division, police said.
According to police, the victim was admitted to the Puliyankulam Hospital following the accident but later succumbed to his injuries.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the youth had been operating a tractor to clear land belonging to the Kurusuttikulam temple. A mechanical fault is believed to have developed while the tractor was being started.
While attempting to repair the vehicle, the tractor reportedly moved forward unexpectedly, causing the victim to be run over by one of its wheels.
The deceased was identified as a 20-year-old resident of Kurusuttikulam.
Kanakarayankulam Police have launched further investigations into the incident.
