Fire breaks out at Embilipitiya garment factory; 22 hospitalised

Around 22 workers have been hospitalised following a fire that broke out this morning (03) at a garment factory in Embilipitiya.

 

Police said the fire originated in a warehouse of a textile factory located near Sudupala Bridge in Nonaagama, Embilipitiya.

 

The affected workers suffered burn injuries and smoke inhalation and were admitted to the Embilipitiya Base Hospital for treatment.

 

Firefighting teams from Sevanagala and Embilipitiya are continuing efforts to bring the blaze under control. 

 

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, police said.
