An ‘Amber’ advisory has been issued by the Department of Meteorology for strong winds for the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Northern, North-Central provinces and Trincomalee, Hambantota districts.
The advisory, issued today (03), will remain in effect until 03.30 p.m. tomorrow (04).
According to the Met. Department, strong winds of about 40-50 kmph can be expected at times over the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Northern and North Central provinces and in Trincomalee and Hambantota districts, due to the active south-west condition.
Meanwhile, fairly strong winds of about 30-40 kmph can be expected at times elsewhere of the island.
Accordingly, the general public has been requested to be attentive about future advisories issued by the Department of Meteorology in this regard.
