Traffic restrictions imposed at Nawammahara railway crossing for renovation

The Department of Railways has announced that vehicular movement will be restricted at the “Nawammahara” railway crossing, near the Horape Sub Railway Station on the Main Line, due to essential renovations.

 

Accordingly, vehicular movement will be restricted on following dates:

  • June 5, 2026 – From 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. – Partial traffic restrictions
  • June 6, 2026 – From 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. – Complete traffic closure
  • June 7, 2026– From 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. – Partial traffic restrictions

The Railway Department has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to the motorists due to the essential maintenance work and has requested the public to use alternative routes during this period.
