Eheliyagoda Police OIC arrested

The Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Eheliyagoda Police Station has been arrested by the Ratnapura Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau over allegations of misconduct related to the investigation of a gemstone theft complaint.

 

The arrest was made yesterday (03) on charges of acting unlawfully during the investigation of a complaint regarding the theft of a gemstone, by forcibly taking money belonging to witnesses and suspects involved in the case and not producing it for the investigations into the complaint.

 

The arrest was carried out following an order issued in connection with a complaint lodged with the National Police Commission by two aggrieved individuals, against the Eheliyagoda Police OIC and a Police Inspector.
