The government has taken steps to increase the fertilizer subsidy provided to farmers by Rs. 5,000, raising the allocation to Rs. 30,000 per hectare, Commissioner General of Agrarian Development Dhammika Ranatunga announced today (05).
Speaking at a special media briefing held at the Department of Government Information, Ranatunga stated that a total of 502,836 farmers across the country will benefit from this subsidy.
He further noted that the government will allocate Rs. 10,947 million for the programme and emphasized that the full subsidy amount will be credited to farmers’ accounts in a single payment.
