Divisional Secretaries to boycott meetings on Public Day from tomorrow

The Sri Lanka Association of Divisional Secretaries and Assistant Divisional Secretaries has announced that its members will not participate in any meetings held on Mondays, designated as Public Day, with effect from tomorrow (08).

The association stated that the decision was taken in view of the inconvenience caused to both Divisional Secretariat operations and the public due to meetings organized by various ministries, state institutions, and political authorities on Mondays, either physically or through online platforms.

According to Public Administration Circular No. 27/2023, public officials are required to remain in their offices on Public Day to address issues raised by citizens, while official meetings should not be scheduled on that day. Taking these factors into consideration, the association decided to refrain from attending such meetings from tomorrow onwards, its President R. Senthil said.
