Suresh Sallay’s wife appeals for justice as he continues 'fast unto death' in CID custody

The wife of former Head of the State Intelligence Service (SIS) Major General (Retired) Suresh Sallay has stated that her husband served the country for 38 years, dedicating his life, and that the time has now come for the public to show gratitude for that service.

She made these remarks when she visited the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today (07) to meet Suresh Sallay, who has reportedly begun a “fast unto death” in protest.

She further said that although she had asked her husband to abandon the hunger strike, he was not willing to accept it and continues to stand against what he considers injustice.

She also claimed that Suresh Sallay, who is still only a suspect, is being treated in a very inhumane manner and that there is no fairness in the way he is being handled.

Sallay's wife, son, and brother visited the CID today to see him while he is being held under detention orders.

Speaking further, she said:

“My husband is innocent, and everyone knows it. What is happening to him is extremely unfair. It is clearly visible that he is being used as a scapegoat in the current situation. Even the JMO report mentions inhumane treatment."

"He has now started a hunger strike and is not willing to stop. We have spoken to him many times to try to change his mind, but he is firm. We all know he is innocent. Investigations can be carried out, but he should be treated humanely."

"It is very painful for me. For 38 years he sacrificed his entire life for the country. He never even had time to attend a child’s school event because he was always serving the nation. For such a person, this kind of treatment is extremely unjust."

"We know who is responsible for this unfair treatment. I am deeply saddened about my husband. However, I am requesting that before anything happens to him, he be taken to a hospital. Given his mental condition, he cannot even say himself that he needs medical care."

"Those responsible must do the right thing. I am only asking to save his life. Please provide maximum care. Just as Suresh served the country, now it is your time to stand up for him. If he was able to dedicate his entire life for the country for over 30 years, then this is your opportunity to stand up for Suresh. You all know who is telling the truth. Please stand up for Suresh. That is all I ask.”
