Trump says Iran and Israel aiming for "ceasefire," insists deal is close

US President Donald Trump says Israel and Iran are “looking to do an immediate CEASEFIRE” after a round of attacks between the two countries threatened the fragile truce that had already been in place.

“Final negotiations on ‘Peace’ are proceeding, subject to ignorance or stupidity getting in its way,” he wrote on Truth Social. “The Blockade will remain in place, and in full force and effect, until a ‘Final Deal’ is reached. Things should move quickly.”

Trump has been signaling for weeks that a preliminary deal to end the war is close, but so far it hasn’t materialized.

Meanwhile, Iran has said it is prepared for a long-term war with Israel and American interests in the region, the state-affiliated news Tasnim news agency said, citing a “military source” it didn’t identify.

“Necessary arrangements for this matter have been fully devised,” the source was citing as saying.

If the Israelis and Americans imagine that through ‘controlled tension’ they can make Iran and the Resistance Front predictable in the face of their crimes, or limit the type of Iran’s response, they are committing a foolish mistake.”

The “Resistance Front” is Iran’s network of regional proxy groups such as Hezbollah and the Yemen-based Houthis.

The military source warned that Iran “will raise the level of tension” and that “the coming days will show that calculations of the Israelis and Americans are always wrong.”

An Israeli military official said Monday that Israel is preparing for at least several days of fighting with Iran and the possibility of a prolonged campaign.
