
The case filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) against former Minister Wimal Weerawansa, alleging unlawful acquisition of assets exceeding Rs. 75 million beyond his declared legal income, was taken up for hearing once again today (08) at the Colombo High Court.
The matter was called before Colombo High Court Judge Mohamed Mihail, Ada Derana reporter said.
During today’s hearing, testimony from prosecution witnesses was recorded under the supervision of Additional Solicitor General Azad Navavi, who appeared on behalf of the Bribery Commission.
Following the proceedings, the court postponed further hearing of evidence to June 25.
The case was filed on allegations that the former Minister Wimal Weerawansa committed offences under the Bribery Act by accumulating assets beyond his lawful income between 2010 and 2014.
