Two killed in separate road accidents in Grandpass and Payagala

Two individuals have died in separate road accidents reported from Grandpass and Payagala, police said.

 

A motorcyclist died following a collision near the Lucas Road junction in Grandpass.

 

Police said the accident occurred when a motorcycle travelling from the Thotalaga junction towards Peliyagoda collided with a prime mover vehicle. The rider sustained critical injuries and was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital, where he later died.

 

The deceased has been identified as a 21-year-old resident of Peliyagoda. The driver of the prime mover has been arrested, and Grandpass Police are conducting further investigations.

 

In a separate incident, a motorcyclist died after a collision involving a bicycle on the Payaagala–Malegoda–Dodangoda road near the Pahala Angoda junction.

 

Police said the motorcycle travelling towards Dodangoda collided with a bicycle travelling in the same direction. Both the cyclist and motorcyclist were admitted to the Nagoda Hospital, where the motorcyclist was pronounced dead.

 

The deceased has been identified as a 43-year-old resident of Payagala. Payagala Police are conducting further investigations.
