Ten suspects, including eight alleged members of organised criminal groups, have been arrested in the Dehiwala-Mt. Lavinia area during a special police operation.
According to the police, the suspects were taken into custody along with a hand grenade, five swords and 35 grams of crystal methamphetamine (Ice).
The suspects, identified as residents of the Angulana, Moratuwa and Ratmalana areas, are aged between 20 and 56, police said.
The ongoing investigations have revealed that the suspects are allegedly involved in various criminal activities, including assaults with sharp weapons and causing serious injuries in the Dehiwala area.
The Mount Lavinia Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau is conducting further investigations into the arrested suspects.
