Court to deliver order on medical board request in case against Suresh Sallay

The Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court is scheduled to deliver its order today (10) regarding a request made by the Attorney General seeking directions for a specialist medical board to examine former Director of the State Intelligence Service (SIS) Major General (Retired) Suresh Sallay and submit a medical report.

 

Major General Suresh Sallay is currently being detained under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).

 

The matter was previously taken up on June 4 before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court, following a motion filed on behalf of the suspect.

 

Court had issued its directive after considering submissions made by Additional Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris.

 

Accordingly, court’s decision on the Attorney General’s request is expected to be announced later today.

 

Meanwhile, Major General Suresh Sallay is currently undergoing treatment at the Colombo National Hospital.
