The Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court has ordered that former Navy Commander Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne be named as the third suspect in a case involving the alleged abduction of 11 youths in Colombo and its suburbs in 2008.
The case is linked to allegations against former Lieutenant Commander Prasad Chandana Hettiarachchi, a primary suspect in the abduction incident, for whom it is claimed that assistance was allegedly provided.
The decision was made after considering submissions made to court by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Following the order, court issued summons directing former Navy Commander Wijegunaratne to appear before court on July 22, the next scheduled hearing date.
Further proceedings into the matter are set to continue before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court.
