An ‘Amber’ advisory has been issued by the Department of Meteorology for strong winds for the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Northern and North-central provinces and in Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.
The advisory, Issued at 06.00 p.m. today (13 June), is valid until 06.00 p.m. (14 June).
According to the Met. Department, strong winds of about 40-50 kmph can be expected at times over the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Northern and North-central provinces and in Trincomalee and Hambantota districts, due to the active south-west monsoonal condition.
Meanwhile, fairly strong winds of about 30-40 kmph can be expected at times elsewhere in the island.
Accordingly, the general public has been requested to be attentive about future advisories issued by the Department of Meteorology in this regard.
