Former Director of the State Intelligence Service (SIS) Major General (Retired) Suresh Sallay should fully cooperate with ongoing investigations into the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks by disclosing all relevant information in his possession, according to Cabinet Spokesperson and Minister of Health Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa.

Speaking at the weekly Cabinet media briefing held today, Minister Jayatissa stated that as a former intelligence and military officer, Major General Sallay should provide investigators with any information that could assist the inquiry.

He said withholding information would serve no purpose and urged full cooperation with law enforcement authorities.

“The best thing Suresh Sallay can do is disclose what he knows about the Easter Sunday attacks and assist the security authorities. There is no point in hiding information,” the Minister said.

Responding to questions regarding Sallay’s detention, Minister Jayatissa said that no special prison cell or separate facilities had been provided for him, and that standard procedures applicable to detainees held under detention orders were being followed.

However, he noted that necessary medical and humanitarian assistance is being provided, adding that relatives are permitted to visit and provide food, while medical treatment is offered without delay when required.

Minister Nalinda Jayatissa further stated that Major General Suresh Sallay is being held under standard detention arrangements similar to those applied in previous cases and emphasized that health and security authorities are closely monitoring his condition and welfare.
