Police have launched an investigation after the body of a female was discovered inside a car in Teldeniya yesterday (17).
An investigation was launched after Teldeniya Police received a telephone call from an unidentified person reporting that a female body was inside a parked vehicle.
Preliminary inquiries have revealed that the woman had been staying at a hotel in Nuwara Eliya from June 3 to June 16. Police further stated that the incident was reported to authorities by a person believed to be the woman’s fiancé.
The deceased has been identified as a 33-year-old resident of Weligama.
Following a magisterial inquiry, the body has been placed at the morgue of the Teldeniya Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Police said investigations are ongoing to determine whether the death was due to homicide or other causes, while the Nuwara Eliya Police continue further inquiries.
