Probe launched into Police-Air Force standoff in Kalpitiya

Sri Lanka Police have launched an investigation into a tense situation that arose between a group of Sri Lanka Police officers and Sri Lanka Air Force personnel during a raid carried out at the Kalpitiya seashore.
A group of police officers had gone to the Kalpitiya coastal area to seize a stock of illegal goods suspected to have been smuggled into the country, officials said.
During the operation, Air Force personnel stationed at the location reportedly claimed that the area fell under their jurisdiction, leading to a heated exchange between the two parties.
Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
