
The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has ordered that the plaint filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) against Member of Parliament Chamara Sampath Dassanayake over corruption allegations, be recalled on November 03, 2026.
The case was taken up today before Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama, Ada Derana reporter said.
During the proceedings, the CIABOC informed the court that investigations into the matter are still ongoing.
Accordingly, the Chief Magistrate directed the Bribery Commission to report the progress of the investigations to the court on November 03, 2026.
The complaint alleges that while serving as the Chief Minister of Uva Province, Dassanayake caused a loss of more than Rs. 17.3 million to the government by prematurely withdrawing fixed deposits belonging to the Uva Provincial Council from bank accounts. The Bribery Commission has filed the complaint against the MP in connection with these allegations.
