
A fire has reportedly broken out at a tea factory located at Wathurawila Junction on the Elpitiya –Mapalagama road.
It is reported that the fire brigade teams are currently engaged in efforts with two fire trucks from the Galle Municipal Council Fire Brigade, to bring the blaze under control.
However, by the time firefighters arrived, a significant portion of the factory had already been engulfed by the flames, Ada Derana reporter said.
It is reported that a large quantity of processed tea leaves stored at the factory have been destroyed in the fire.
No injuries were reported among those present at the factory at the time of the incident, Ada Derana reporter said.
The exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined, although police suspect it may have been caused by an electrical short circuit.
