The suspect known as “Dubai Sudda,” or as Ranthatige Nishanka Priyadarshana, who was remanded for allegedly defrauding money from individuals by claiming he could secure jobs for them in Dubai and Moldova on tourist visas, has pleaded guilty to the charges levelled against him.
The plea was made when the relevant case was taken up on June 16, Ada Derana reporter said.
He has been accused of obtaining Rs. 700,000 from an individual from the Kuliyapitiya area by promising overseas employment, which he failed to provide, and for operating without a valid license issued by the Bureau of Foreign Employment.
Accordingly, the Kuliyapitiya Magistrate ordered that Rs. 700,000 be deposited in court on behalf of the aggrieved party.
The case is scheduled to be recalled on August 25, 2026, Ada Derana reporter said.
Another similar case filed against “Dubai Sudda” is also scheduled to be heard at the Welisara Magistrate’s Court on June 26, 2026.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment has urged the public to report any similar complaints regarding overseas job fraud allegedly carried out by the suspect to its Special Investigations Unit.
