
Sri Lankan javelin throw champion Rumesh Tharanga arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake, this evening (20) after an outstanding international campaign in Europe and the Middle East, where he secured three gold medals and a silver medal in four major athletics competitions.
Tharanga showcased his talent at prestigious athletics meets held in Morocco, Italy, Czech Republic, and Doha in Qatar, competing against some of the world's leading athletes.
Following his successful performances, he arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport at 4:54 p.m. today aboard a atar Airways flight from Doha, said Ada Derana reporter.
A welcoming delegation comprising his parents, relatives, senior officials from the Ministry of Sports, and representatives of the Sri Lanka Air Force was present at the airport to receive the star athlete upon his arrival.
