A motorcycle travelling towards Rambewa had collided with a bus while attempting to make a right turn near the Galwala Junction on the Anuradhapura–Rambewa Road early yesterday.

The rider and pillion passenger had sustained injuries and were admitted to the Anuradhapura Hospital, where the 17-year-old pillion rider from Kurundankulama later succumbed to his injuries.

The bus driver has been arrested, and Anuradhapura Police are conducting further investigations.

In another accident, a motorcycle travelling towards Kekirawa had collided head-on with a van on the Galewela–Kekirawa Road near the 21 km post yesterday.

The motorcyclist, pillion rider, and van driver were injured and admitted to Adiyagala Hospital before being transferred to Dambulla Hospital for further treatment.

The 16-year-old motorcycle rider from Dewahuwa later had succumbed to his injuries. Galkiriyagama Police are investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, a motorcycle travelling towards Badulla had lost control and overturned on the Colombo–Badulla Main Road at Pambahinna in the Samanalawewa Police Division yesterday.

The pillion rider was thrown onto the road and was struck by an oncoming bus. Both victims were taken to Pambahinna Hospital, where the 37-year-old pillion rider from Balangoda had later succumbed.

In a separate incident, a 20-year-old motorcyclist from Dewahuwa has been killed after losing control of his motorcycle while attempting to overtake a lorry on the Dambulla–Pubbogama Road at Anakatawa in the Giranegama Police Division yesterday evening.

The motorcycle had skidded and collided with an oncoming three-wheeler. The rider was admitted to Dambulla Hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
