Two dead, 20 injured following clash inside Negombo Prison

At least two individuals have died following a clash between two groups of inmates within the Negombo Prison this afternoon (05).

 

Earlier it was reported that around 25 injured inmates were admitted to the Negombo Hospital, following the clash.

 

Meanwhile, Police Special Task Force (STF) personnel have been deployed to the area.

 

A clash has been reported following an incident involving the exposure of a drug trafficking operation.

 

The extent of the injuries to the inmates have not been revealed thus far.

 

Further investigations are underway.
