The FIFA World Cup 2026 has reached the quarter-final stage with defending champions Argentina and favourites France among eight teams battling out for a place in the last four of the tournament.
England, following their dramatic 3-2 win over Mexico at the Azteca, will take on Norway and Erling Haaland this weekend. The Three Lions will be the favourites to advance to the last four, but the Norwegians will hold no fear of them, having already faced a number of huge tests this summer. They have beaten tough opposition in the form of Senegal, Ivory Coast and Brazil so far.
Favourites France will reunite with Morocco, the country they beat to reach the final in 2022 in Qatar. Les Bleus are well aware that the Moroccans will be no pushovers on Thursday.
After thrashing the USA in Seattle, Belgium head to Los Angeles to take on Spain, who narrowly defeated Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal on Monday.
Holders Argentina produced a second-half comeback to beat Egypt 3-2 in a manic encounter last night. They will come up against Switzerland after they eliminated Colombia following a penalty shootout.
