
Former State Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan, alias “Pillayan,” has been further remanded.
The Batticaloa Magistrate’s Court today (13) ordered Pillayan be remanded until July 24 in connection with cases filed over a series of murders reported in the Batticaloa District in 2008.
Chandrakanthan, who was arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, was produced before the court via video conference today.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has filed cases against Pillayan and several other suspects over five killings that took place in parts of the Batticaloa District in 2008.
