The Colombo High Court today (15) ordered that the further hearing of the corruption case filed against former Minister Kumara Jayakody be resumed on September 7.

The case was taken up before Colombo High Court Judge Rashantha Godawela, according to Ada Derana.

During today’s proceedings, evidence from two prosecution witnesses was recorded. Court subsequently postponed the continuation of the hearing until September 7.

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) filed the case against Jayakody, alleging that he committed an act of corruption while serving as the Procurement Manager of Ceylon Fertilizer Company Limited in 2014.

The commission alleges that Jayakody acted in a manner favourable to a private company when awarding a contract to carpet the warehouse complex of Ceylon Fertilizer Company Limited.
