Ex-Minister SB Dissanayake’s brother granted bail

Former Provincial Councilor Jayalath Bandara Dissanayake, the brother of former Minister S. B. Dissanayake, who was arrested over an alleged financial fraud, has been granted bail.

 

The order was issued by the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court, Ada Derana reporter said.

 

The Magistrate ordered that the 58-year-old suspect be released on two surety bails amounting to Rs. 10 million each and a cash bail of Rs. 50,000. Court also imposed a travel ban preventing him from leaving the country.

 

Former Provincial Councilor Jayalath Bandara Dissanayake was arrested in connection with the alleged financial fraud in Hanguranketha yesterday (14).

 

The arrest was made following a complaint received by the Central Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB), alleging that the suspect had obtained Rs. 27.5 million from a resident of Weeraketiya after claiming that he could secure a liquor licence.
