The People's Republic of China will provide as a donation the school uniform fabric required for the year 2027 for all students and student monks studying in government schools, government-aided schools and government-approved Pirivens in Sri Lanka.

The official exchange of agreements related to the donation was held yesterday (15) at the Ministry of Education in Isurupaya, Battaramulla.

Under the assistance programme, the full uniform requirement for nearly 4.18 million school students across Sri Lanka will be covered for the year 2027.

Accordingly, the Chinese government is expected to provide a stock of 10.820 million metres of fabric to Sri Lanka completely free of charge.

Further strengthening the existing relations between the two countries, the relevant certificates of agreement were exchanged between Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Qi Zhenhong and the Secretary to the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Training, Nalaka Kaluwewa.

The officials of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Sri Lanka, along with several senior officials of the Ministry of Education, were also present at the event.
