The Court of Appeal has ordered that the intervening petitions seeking permission to intervene and present facts regarding the petition filed by former Director of the State Intelligence Service (SIS) Suresh Sallay, challenging his arrest and detention by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), be taken up for consideration on August 4.
Eight parties, including the Venerable Bengamuwe Nalaka Thero and His Eminence Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, have filed intervening petitions in this case, said Ada Derana reporter.
When the petitions were taken up today, the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Rohantha Abeysuriya, stated that the intervening applications would be considered after the completion of submissions by President’s Counsel Sanjeeva Jayawardena, who is appearing on behalf of the petitioner.
Accordingly, with the consent of the attorneys representing the intervening parties, the Court of Appeal ordered that the relevant petitions be called on August 4 and 6 for consideration.
