Man dies after earth mound collapses in Alawatugoda

A 49-year-old man died after a mound of earth collapsed in the Batugoda area of Alawatugoda.

 

Investigations have revealed that the earth mound collapsed while he was digging a foundation pit for a house under construction.

 

The victim was rescued and rushed to the Akurana Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on admission, police said.

 

The deceased has been identified as a resident of Alawatugoda, police said.

 

The body has been placed at the Kandy Hospital morgue, while Alawatugoda Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
