Police sergeant killed in motorcycle crash in Vavuniya

A police sergeant was killed after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a tipper truck parked along the Irattaperiyakulam-Vavuniya road within the Vavuniya Police Division.

 

According to the police, the motorcycle, which was travelling towards Irattaperiyakulam near the 16th Lane, crashed into the tipper truck parked on the left side of the road last night (17).

 

The rider sustained critical injuries in the accident and was pronounced dead on admission to the Vavuniya District General Hospital.

 

The deceased has been identified as a 45-year-old police sergeant attached to the Vavuniya Police Station and a resident of Matale.

 

Vavuniya Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
