CBSL imposes Rs. 14.6 million in penalties on 11 financial institutions

The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has imposed fines on 11 financial institutions for failing to comply with the provisions of the Financial Transactions Reporting Act, No. 6 of 2006.

 

According to the CBSL, the penalties were imposed in relation to legal violations identified between October 2025 and March 2026.

 

The FIU, which serves as Sri Lanka's regulator for Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT), has imposed total fines amounting to Rs. 14.6 million on 11 institutions.

 

The CBSL further stated that all amounts collected as administrative penalties have been credited to the Consolidated Fund.
