Duo arrested with Rs. 27 million in cash at Park Street
Two individuals have been arrested after they were found transporting Rs. 27 million in cash in a car down Park Street in Kompanna Veediya yesterday (21), police stated.
Police said the suspects were unable to verify the source of the money, prompting officers to take them into custody. They were subsequently handed over to the Kompanna Veediya Police Station by officers attached to the Colombo Central Crime Investigation Bureau.
The suspects, aged 54 and 59, are residents of Colombo 13 and Colombo 14, respectively.
Further investigations are underway to determine whether the cash was acquired through illegal means.
