Three schoolchildren who were critically injured after a three-wheeler travelling from Nallathanniya to Maskeliya plunged into a precipice near Mohini Falls have been transferred to the Dickoya Base Hospital for further treatment.

 

The accident occurred on the Nallathanniya–Maskeliya main road near Mohini Falls, when the three-wheeler veered off the road and fell into the precipice. Two passengers travelling in the vehicle died in the accident, while three schoolchildren sustained serious injuries.

 

The injured children were initially admitted to the Maskeliya Divisional Hospital. However, due to their critical condition, they were later transferred to Dickoya Base Hospital.

 

The accident took place at around 8:15 a.m. today (22). According to a police officer from the Nallathanniya Police Station, who is investigating the incident, the three-wheeler was travelling at a high speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to plunge into the precipice.

 

Police confirmed that the deceased were the three-wheeler driver and another adult passenger. Five people were travelling in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
