
A suspect who allegedly murdered his mentally impaired brother and confessed to the crime after surrendering to the police has been arrested by the Arachchikattuwa Police.
According to police, the suspect arrived at the Arachchikattuwa Police Station at around 2.10 p.m. today (22), carrying a knife, and informed officers that he had killed his brother.
Acting on the information, police officers proceeded to the house where the two had been living and discovered the victim's body lying on a bed in a room of the house with multiple cut injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Dulen Hasanka, a resident of Rajakadaluwa in Arachchikattuwa, police said.
Police said the suspect had been caring for his mentally disabled brother during the daytime.
A magisterial inquiry into the incident is scheduled to be conducted.
