One dead, another critical after car and motorcycle collide head-on in Dimbulagala

A person has died while another has been seriously injured following a head-on collision involving a car and a motorcycle in the Namal Pokuna area of Dimbulagala along the Polonnaruwa-Mahiyangana main road.

 

The pillion rider of the motorcycle has been killed in the accident, which occurred at around 1.00 p.m. today (22), police said.

 

The motorcyclist, who sustained serious injuries in the collision, has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Polonnaruwa District General Hospital, the Manampitiya Police said.

 

The deceased has been identified as a 31-year-old resident of the Mahaulpatha area in Dimbulagala.

 

Manampitiya Police stated that the accident had occurred due to the motorcyclist’s reckless riding and riding under the influence of alcohol.

 

The driver of the car has been arrested in connection with the incident, and further investigations are being conducted by the Manampitiya Police.
