LPL 2026: Dambulla, Jaffna Kings secure wins

Jaffna Kings defeated Colombo Kaps while Dambulla Sixers overcame Galle Gallants in Lanka Premier League 2026 encounters played yesterday.

 

In the opening match of the day, Jaffna Kings defeated Colombo Kaps by 5 runs in a closely fought encounter at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium.

 

Kings batting first posted 179/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Chamindu Wickramasinghe top scored with 43 off just 22 balls. Openers Avishka Fernando and Kamil Mishara hit 30s. For Kaps, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Shahnawaz Dahani took two wickets each.

 

Colombo Kaps managed 174/9 in their allotted 20 overs but missed out on a victory. Skipper Kamindu Mendis scored 58 off 42 balls while Wanuja Sahan remained unbeaten on 34 off 15. For the Kings, Lizaad Williams finished with figures of 3/29.

 

In the second match of the day, Dambulla Sixers beat Galle Gallants by 6 wickets.
