
Sri Lanka's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, Vijitha Herath, has held a brief discussion with United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the sidelines of the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) in Manila, the Philippines.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Minister Herath said the discussion on Thursday (23) focused on further advancing bilateral relations and cooperation between Sri Lanka and the United States.
Foreign Minister Herath is in Manila to participate in the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Ministerial Meeting and the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (TAC), from July 23 to 24. He is scheduled to address both meetings during the official visit
The Minister had also met U.S. Ambassador to India and Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor, with discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath also met Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman on the sidelines of the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) meeting in Manila.
