19 injured after bus hits motorcycle and crashes into tree in Weerawila
At least 19 people have been injured and hospitalised following a collision involving a bus and a motorcycle in the Weerawila area on the Matara–Tissamaharama main road.
Police stated that the injured include 11 men and 8 women.
The accident occurred when a private bus travelling from Tissamaharama towards Matara collided with a motorcycle near the Weerawila Divisional Secretariat. The bus subsequently veered off the road and crashed into a nearby tree, said police.
The injured individuals were admitted to the Debarawewa Hospital, while four persons who were in critical condition were transferred to the Hambantota General Hospital for further treatment.
Weerawila Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
