Missing teen girl found dead in Balangoda quarry

The body of a 17-year-old girl who had been reported missing has been found in a quarry in the Kajuwatta area of Mahawalathenna, police said.
The deceased has been identified as a resident of Mahawalathenna, Balangoda.
According to police, the girl had been missing since July 23, and her father had lodged a complaint with the Balangoda Police regarding her disappearance.
Police said it has not yet been determined whether the death was the result of murder, suicide or drowning.
A post-mortem examination in this regard is scheduled to be conducted today (25) at the Balangoda Base Hospital, officials said.
Balangoda Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
