Grade 5 Scholarship Exam to be held today

The 2026 Grade 5 Scholarship Examination is scheduled to be held today (09) at 2,723 examination centers across the island.

 

A total of 294,089 students are expected to sit for this year’s Scholarship Examination, which will commence at 9.30 a.m.

 

A total of 220,366 students are sitting for the examination in Sinhala medium, while 73,723 students are sitting in Tamil medium, according to the Department of Examinations.

 

The Department has advised students to arrive at their examination centers at least one hour before the examination begins, to help them maintain mental focus and sit for the examination with due concentration.

 

The examination is scheduled to commence at 9.30 a.m., and all students are required to be seated in the examination hall by 9.00 a.m., Commissioner General of Examinations A.K.S. Indika Kumari said.

 

The second question paper will be given first, from 9.30 a.m. to 10.45 a.m. Following a short break, the first question paper will be conducted from 11.15 a.m. to 12.15 p.m.

 

The Commissioner General further advised all candidates to carefully read the instructions on the question paper, correctly enter their examination number, and provide their answers clearly in their own handwriting.

 

Students have also been instructed not to bring mobile phones, smart watches, notes or any other electronic devices into the examination hall.
